Garbage Collector

A garbage collector is someone who works either for the municipal government or for a private waste management company. Garbage collectors usually work in pairs, picking up and removing waste, recyclable goods, or yard debris from residential neighborhoods, commercial business centers, and public parks. The job function is to collect and dump refuse or recyclable materials from containers into trucks. Some Garbage collectors drive the trucks while others do the pick-up procedures.

To become a garbage collector you would need to have passed high school and have a high school diploma. This job also requires a commercial driver's license. Anyone applying for a position as a garbage collector must have a clean license without any DUIs or accidents. You will also receive on the job training from an experienced worker to develop the necessary basic skills. The best way to begin a career as a garbage man is to contact a garbage company for a job application. They usually require a background check and a current commercial driver's license if you want to drive the garbage truck. Most wast management workers make up to $11 to $20 per hour or $26,000 to $46,000 per year.

Being a garbage man is considered a low-stress job with good work-life balance and solid prospects to improve you could get promoted and earn a higher salary. However the hours are pretty long, workers lost their privileges for sick days, personal days, holidays, and vacation time. They also USED to have reasonable hours, however now it is 6 days a week, and anywhere from 14 hours to 16 hours.

Personally, I'm not very interested in this job, but I just wanted to blog about it!

A marketer should have excellent spoken and written communication skills, a creative and open-minded approach, strong organizational and planning abilities, and proven team leadership qualities. Accountant

Accountants are people who ensure that companies or organizations are efficiently operating. They do this by accessing the financial records of their clients. Basically doing other peoples taxes as their jobs.

To become an accountant depending on your level of dedication, an accounting major can take the following time to complete: Associate's degree programs, which provide entry-level opportunity, usually take two years. A bachelor's degree program generally takes four years. Master's degree programs and MBA's generally require one to two years.

1. Self Motivation
2. Integrity
3. Ability to reflect on one's own work as well as the wider consequences of financial decisions
4. Business acumen and interest
5. Organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines
6. Teamwork ability

Accounting is considered one of the harder business majors because it's up against majors like marketing, management, and business admin. It's an easier major when you compare it to the sciences or engineering. Once you grasp the basic fundamentals, it's not a difficult major.

The median wage for accountants stood at $69,350 in 2017, with the top 10% made more than $122,000, the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. Shark Biologist

A shark biologist faces the elements of nature and the sea, they know how to use electronics like sonar equipment, they also rule over their lab and research facility. As a shark biologist, you should know everything about sharks. For example what they eat, how they mate, and how fast they grow. Usually, you only specialize in one type of shark when you are a shark biologist.

If you are interested in becoming a shark biologist, you will need to plan on getting at least a master's degree, if not a Ph.D. There are a couple of different degrees that can apply including zoology, marine biology, biology, marine sciences, ecology, and animal behavior and ethology.

The salaries of shark biologists in the US range from $39,180 to $97,390, with a median salary of $59,680.

A shark biologist is a part of being a marine biologist, I have another blog regarding marine biologist I will leave the link below if you want to read it!

Sorry, this blog was really short, as I was blogging I realized being a shark biologist may not be as interesting as I thought.

Architect

Architects are people who design different types of structures, for example, office buildings, stadiums, schools, malls, homes, and more. Basically every building or structure you see architects designed it. An architect will collect all information for a project to include site selection, environmental impact, zoning laws, building codes, and access to buildings for the disabled. Architects work in a highly creative and collaborative field, sometimes with others in their profession, such as landscape architects, residential architects of interior architects. Depending on their own area of specialization. An architect career involves asses a client's goals, requirements, and budget.

To become an architect, you will need to complete a five-year architecture degree which is then recognized by the Architects Registration Board (ARB). To take a recognized degree you will need five GCSEs A-C including English, math, and science and three A levels. Some universities prefer a maths or a science subject.

Being an architect is a job with a low stress level, good work-life balance. Architecture is indeed a very good career path. However, you should not choose a career in Architecture or any other fields for that matter, just because it has better job prospects, or can give you a really nice payment. However, when you first become an Architect long hours are required. Many architects don't start seeing decent money until after they become somewhat experienced, licensed, and accomplished. Being an Architect is a different lifestyle, you may also start as a poor architect at first.

The average salary of an architect was $76,100 per year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) the average salary of an architect was $76,100. There is a wide range of architect salaries however the top 10% of architects earn an average salary of $125,520 per year.

In conclusion, being an architect is something I am definitely interested in!

Flight Attendant

A flight attendant is a member of an aircrew employed by airlines aboard commercial flights, they are there primarily to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. To become a flight attendant you need a high school diploma or the equivalent and work experience in customer service. Most airlines allow their flight attendants to fly for free during their off time and any allow guests to accompany them at free of reduced rates. Most of this travel is stand by and also based on a flight's occupancy, meaning a flight attendant can get bumped from the flight if it's full of paying customers.

Being a flight attendant is one of the most wanted jobs in the world. This is because flight attendants are able to fly around the world, explore new places and get to meet new cultures. This job is considered to broaden your horizon to a maximum and improve your communicating skills.

Flight attendants work nights, weekends, and holidays. But since most attendants are union members they usually work set hours. Most attendants are usually limited to working 12 hours shifts but some are allowed to work 14-hour shifts.  Those working on international flights are usually permitted to work longer shifts.

However, right now flight attendants don't have jobs. This is because of the coronavirus also known as COVID-19.

Here is a list of the airlines in the United States that pay their flight attendants the most after accounting for the different benefits.
1. Southwest Airlines ~ $65,000

4 Alaska Airlines ~ $52,000

Being a Flight Attendant is definitely a career I'm interested in even though it doesn't pay much!

Film Director

A film director controls a film's artistic and dramatic aspects and visualizes the screenplay (or script) while guiding the technical crew and actors in the fulfillment of that vision. The director has a key role in choosing the cast members, production design, and the creative aspect of filmmaking. A film director is different than a film producer. A film producer is a person who oversees film production, whereas the director makes the creative decisions during the production. The producer typically manages the logistics and business operations, though some directors also produce their own films.

Becoming a movie director is not hard at all. You just write a story, take a camera and start filming, however becoming a great movie director is a bit more difficult. Because the director has to be constantly improving and be willing to learn from their previous mistakes. To be a film director, start by watching films and trying to pick out mistakes in the acting, editing, or storyline so you can learn about filmmaking. Additionally, write a screenplay or as a friend to write one for you, then make a short film so you can begin learning about the technical aspects of directing. More and more schools are offering bachelor's and master's in film directing. Most film directors typically hold a bachelor's in film or related field and have several years of work experience. They often begin their film directing career as a film editor, actor, or assistant to an established director.

Directors and screenwriters play different roles in the process of bringing a movie or television show to life. Screenwriters create the script either through original work or by adapting prior works. Directors interpret scripts and turn them into the creative vision for the movie or show. Directors get a lot of the credit because it was their vision. They directed the film. With collaborative filmmaking, credits are usually negotiated and the creative managers (directors) will usually receive most of the credit. It also depends on who wrote the film, if the writer is also the director then he or she would normally receive most of the credit.

Short and documentary film directors took home $3,418 for a day of work in 2018. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported in May 2016 that directors working in the motion picture and video industries earned an annual mean wage of $111,320.

Marine Biologist

Marine Biology is the scientific study of marine life and organisms in the sea. Given that in biology many phyla families and genera have some species that live in the sea and others that live on land, marine biology classifies species in the ocean. A marine biologist studies ocean organisms. They protect, observe, study, or manage marine organisms or animals, plants, and microbes. Therefore marine biologists hold many titles and specializations. A typical day for a marine biologist can range from hours of diving on beautiful reefs; sampling the ocean from boats and ships; working up samples in the laboratory; figuring out the results on computers or writing up the findings for publication. In the picture above it shows a giant ocean sunfish (mola).

To the public marine biologists lead a glamorous life, diving on distant reefs, studying exotic marine animals and fending off sharks. Marine biology jobs are hard to get, so to be competitive you need to plan early. Being a marine biologist can also be dangerous and physically demanding. Jobs on a research vessel require stamina to operate heavy equipment, dive into deep waters and examine marine animals. A marine biologist's jobs are considered pretty fun meaning out in the field (swimming in the ocean) may pay less than others, as they are often entry-level technician positions that are paid by the hour. Jobs that entail increased responsibility will likely mean that you'll be spending more time inside working at a computer. Marine biologists are one of the happiest careers in the United States, as it turns out marine biologists rate their career happiness 4.1 out of 5 stars; which puts them in the top 7% of careers.

To become a marine biologist you do not have to be able to dive, many roles are lab or office-based and fieldwork frequently involves surveys. These surveys are either boat based or on the shoreline. You also don't need to know how to swim, although it is exciting to experience being underwater close to the animals being studied. The subjects you need are the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), English and Maths. Other qualifications that would be helpful are I.T.C, Geography, and foreign languages.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay in 2018 was $63,420 but they put the marine biologists in with both zoologists and wildlife biologists. In many organizations and universities, a marine biologist will have to write grants to supply funding for their salaries.

I am definitely interested in being a marine biologist!

Physical Therapist

Physical therapists also known as PT's are health care professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to the very oldest, who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Physical therapists teach patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benefits. PTs examine each individual and develop a plan, using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.

Traditional PT programs can range from 30-36 months. So in addition to the 4 years, you spend completing an undergraduate degree, you'll also spend about 3 years at a DPT program, totaling 7 years of college education to become a physical therapist. Yes, the process to become a physical therapist is long but worth it. The majority of schools require a minimum of 3.0 GPA, but the acceptance rate of many schools can have GPA scores as high as 3.75 average.

Physical therapy is generally a day shift job with PTA's usually working 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Some physical therapy providers offer services to patients/clients during the early morning or early evening hours.

The job satisfaction of being a PT is good, they say it is a job with low-stress level, good work-life balance and solid prospects to improve, getting promoted and earn a higher salary would make many employees happy. The job satisfaction is rated in terms of upward mobility, stress level, and flexibility. If you go to school for physical therapy it is very expensive, putting you in debt.

Hedge Fund Manager

A hedge fund is an investment fund that pools capital from accredited investors or institutional investors and invests in a variety of assets, often with complicated portfolio construction and risk management techniques. A simpler version of a hedge fund is an investment company that invests its clients' money in alternative investments to either beat the market or provide a hedge against unforeseen market changes. The term Hedge Fund Manager often refers to both a firm that provides investment management services and an individual who directs fund management decisions.

You can become a Hedge Fund Manager by generally holding a bachelor's degree or higher and also have several years of experience as a financial analyst. Students who are interesting in becoming Hedge Fund Managers can pursue a bachelor's degree in finance or related concentration such as accounting, economics, or business administration. Hedge funds are available to all investors. They are available for anyone to invest in, but in order to invest in a hedge fund, a potential investor must have a net worth of at least a million dollars, not counting the value of their house.

Hedge funds workers, work around 70 hours a week. Around 80% of people working in hedge funds work between 50 and 70 hours a week, according to a recent report from consultants Benchmark Compensation. Hed funds make money by charging a management fee and a performance fee, while these differ by fund, they typically run 2% and 20% of assets under management. The hedge fund managers who make the most money every year, do it mainly from having their own money in the fund and having the fund do well. They make a lot of money because they are rich to start the year and they are skillful investors. Of course, hedge fund managers also make money from the profits of their business.

It is not difficult to become a Hedge Fund Manager, only very competitive. Investing is very competitive and everyone chasing the same idea "MAKE MONEY!" if you focus on making money and are good at it you will become rich. However, you will have a very short career if you can't outperform in money management.

You may be thinking what is the difference between Hedge Funds and Investment Banks. Hedge Funds are small and work on the buy side, they buy businesses and avenues on behalf of the investors who've already put up the money. Whereas investment banks are huge organizations and work on complex financial transactions, such as underwriting, acting as an intermediary between a securities issuer and the investing public, facilitating mergers and other corporate reorganizations and acting as a broker or financial adviser for institutional clients.

Being a Hedge Fund Manager is definitely one of the careers I'm more interested in!

Detective

This blog will be about the career of being a detective, however there are 3 different types of detectives a police detective, forensic detective, and a computer crime detective.

A police detective is someone that works to gather evidence and facts for criminal cases. Such as arson, homicide, robbery, vandalism, fraud, burglary, and assault. Real Estate Agent

What is a real estate agent? Real estate agents are licensed to help sellers sell and buyers buy real estate. They are also licensed to operate, negotiate, and arrange sales under the supervision of a real estate broker. It is also usually a requirement for property managers to be licensed in real estate.

A beginner real estate agent will likely sell fewer houses and have lower incomes. However according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the average real estate agent earns $45,990 each year, but the range in income is massive. One-tenth of real estate agents earned less than $23,000 and 10% earned more than $110,000. Overall real estate brokers and sales agents earned a median income of $50,300 a year in 2018. Median meaning the half that earned more than this, and half that earned less. Top real estate agents make a lot more, and agents who sell one home every few months earn less.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Massachusetts Institue of Technology or more commonly known MIT. MIT is a private research university in Cambridge Massachusetts. The institute is a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant university. It is an urban campus that extends for more than a mile alongside the Charles River. The average cost before aid is $70,240 and after aid, it is $20,771. The acceptance rate is 7%, and the graduation rate is 90%.

MIT is best known for its programs in engineering and the physical sciences. Their economics, political science, urban studies, linguistics, and philosophy are also very strong. Admission is extremely competitive and undergraduate students are often able to pursue their own original research. However, MIT's real selling point is its expertise at transforming the ideas of its students' technology and they are able to turn it into a hugely successful business. Mechanical, scientific, and engineering creativity and expertise thrive at MIT, arguable more than in any other university or college worldwide. For over 25 years MIT has been listed as the world's BEST engineering university, it is excellent in all other fields that are technically oriented, and located wonderfully in Cambridge/Boston with open cross-registration with Harvard.

To get into MIT you would need a GPA of 4.17. MIT requires you to be at the top of your class, you'll need nearly straight A's in all your classes to compete with other applicants. Furthermore, you should be taking extremely hard classes, for example, AP or IB to show that you will be ready for a college education. The 25th percentile new SAT score is 1500 and the 75th percentile SAT score is 1570. Meaning a 1500 places you below average, while a 1570 will move you up to above average. There's no absolute SAT requirement at MIT, but they really want to see at least  1500 to have a chance at being considered. Note that these tests are out of 1600. If you do go to MIT it means you are one of the best however once you go to MIT you won't feel the same you will become average because everyone at MIT was the best of there class.

As you can see MIT is one of the universities that are considered the best of the best.
