Marketer

The job of the marketer is they are tasked with the responsibility of researching and analyzing a market (or multiple markets), prior to creating, communicating, delivering, and changing offers (products or services) that have value to their respective target audiences. Basically, a marketer is someone whose duties include the identifications of the goods and services desired by a set of consumers, as well as the marketing of those goods and services on behalf of a company.

A marketing degree will open many doors for you in your career, as it is an integral and in-demand job for most companies. The skills and techniques you will learn while studying marketing can help you later on if you decide to pursue a different type of degree like business management or advertising. Marketing is among the most difficult majors. It's all about data collection and analysis, learning how to develop effective communication and marketing strategies, the four P's (place, price, promotion, product), and so much more

A marketer should have excellent spoken and written communication skills, a creative and open-minded approach, strong organizational and planning abilities, and proven team leadership qualities. Good marketers drive processes and are able to motivate others to see the end goal while completing day to day tasks. The seven functions of marketing are distribution, market research, setting prices, finance, product management or advertising.

There are 8 characteristics to a good marketer

3. Numeracy and analytical ability 
4. Creativity and imagination 
5. Influencing and negotiation skills 
6. Teamwork
7. Organizational ability
8. IT skills 

If you are just getting started in marketing, entry-level marketing positions already have relatively competitive pay. The average base pay for marketing assistants ranges between $32,000 and $55,000 per year.
