Entrepreneur

An entrepreneur is a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so. An entrepreneur is also someone who starts a business and is willing to risk loss in order to make money. Or one who organizes manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise. Notice how the common keywords business and risk. Examples of well-known entrepreneurs include Bill Gates (co-founder of Microsoft), Steve Jobs (co-founder of Apple), Mark Zuckerberg (co-founder of Facebook).

All entrepreneurs must work their business every day. This may mean making calls to find investors or clients, creating online marketing campaigns through social media to generate buzz for your product, or negotiating with manufacturers to determine production costs. The average salary of an entrepreneur is between $58,000 and $68,000 per year, but it varies drastically depending on the industry. The top entrepreneurs can make millions, while others can go completely bankrupt.

If you want to become an entrepreneur you should take these majors in college, computer science, communication, marketing, finance, psychology, graphic design, ROTC, and economics. The majority of entrepreneurial degrees incorporate the fundamentals covered in a typical business degree such as accounting management, and basic marketing. In addition, they specifically address aspects like creating business plans, building up startup capital and developing candidates.

There are 7 characteristics of successful entrepreneurs
1. self-motivation
~ one of the most important traits of entrepreneurs is self-motivation
2. understand what you offer
~ as an entrepreneur, you need to know what you offer, and how it fits into the market
3. take risks
4. know how to network
5. basic money management skills and knowledge 
6. flexibility
7. passion 

Being an entrepreneur is definitely a career I'm interested in!
