Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Massachusetts Institue of Technology or more commonly known MIT. MIT is a private research university in Cambridge Massachusetts. The institute is a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant university. It is an urban campus that extends for more than a mile alongside the Charles River. The average cost before aid is $70,240 and after aid, it is $20,771. The acceptance rate is 7%, and the graduation rate is 90%.

MIT is best known for its programs in engineering and the physical sciences. Their economics, political science, urban studies, linguistics, and philosophy are also very strong. Admission is extremely competitive and undergraduate students are often able to pursue their own original research. However, MIT's real selling point is its expertise at transforming the ideas of its students' technology and they are able to turn it into a hugely successful business. Mechanical, scientific, and engineering creativity and expertise thrive at MIT, arguable more than in any other university or college worldwide. For over 25 years MIT has been listed as the world's BEST engineering university, it is excellent in all other fields that are technically oriented, and located wonderfully in Cambridge/Boston with open cross-registration with Harvard.

To get into MIT you would need a GPA of 4.17. MIT requires you to be at the top of your class, you'll need nearly straight A's in all your classes to compete with other applicants. Furthermore, you should be taking extremely hard classes, for example, AP or IB to show that you will be ready for a college education. The 25th percentile new SAT score is 1500 and the 75th percentile SAT score is 1570. Meaning a 1500 places you below average, while a 1570 will move you up to above average. There's no absolute SAT requirement at MIT, but they really want to see at least  1500 to have a chance at being considered. Note that these tests are out of 1600. If you do go to MIT it means you are one of the best however once you go to MIT you won't feel the same you will become average because everyone at MIT was the best of there class.

As you can see MIT is one of the universities that are considered the best of the best.
