Founded in 1873, it was named in honor of shipping and rail magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt, who provided the school its initial $1-million endowment. The average cost before aid is $70,146, the average cost after aid is $19,959. The acceptance rate is 11%, and the graduation rate is 92%. Last year, 3,298 out of 34,313 applicants were admitted making Vanderbilt an extremely competitive school to get into with a very low chance of acceptance - even for applicants with the highest scores and grades.
The average GPA of students accepted into Vanderbilt is 3.8 out of 4.0. That means that you will have to be the best of your class, it also requires that you have almost entirely A's on your transcript for the duration of your high school career. The average ACT score for students at Vanderbilt consist of 32-35. The average SAT score for math is 745, for reading is 730, and the composite is 1475.
Vanderbilt University is top-ranked in both academics and financial aid, Vanderbilt offers an immersive living-learning undergraduate experience, with programs in the liberal arts and sciences, engineering, music, education and human development. Vanderbilt University is known for being one of of the top universities in the country and is probably best known for their undergraduate pre-med program, medical school, and top research facilities. With that being said, Vanderbilt offers a lot more than just a stepping stone to med school.
