Rice University

William Marsh Rice University known as Rice University is located in Houston, Texan. Rice University is a private research university in Houston Texas. The university is situated on a 300-acre campus near the Houston Museum District and is adjacent to the Texas Medical Center. The average cost before aid is $65,150, the average cost after aid is $20,237. The acceptance rate is 16% and the graduation rate is 91%.

To get into Rice University you would need a GPA of 4.12, Rice University requires you to be at the top of your class. You will need nearly straight A's in all your classes to compete with other applicants. Furthermore, you should be taking hard classes (AP or IB courses) to show that college-level academics is a breeze. The average ACT score for Rice is 34, this score makes Rice University extremely competitive for ACT scores. The 25th percentile ACT score is 33, and the 75th percentile ACT score is 35. The average SAT composite score is 1505, with the math section at 775, and the reading&writing 730. The 25th percentile composite score is 1450, with the math section at 750, and reading&writing at 700.

Rice University is most known for its academic life. The most popular majors at Rice University include Computer and Information Sciences, General; Chemical Engineering; Economics, General; Kinesiology and Excercise Science; and Mechanical Engineering. Rice is also noted for its applied science programs in the fields of artificial heart research, structural chemical analysis, signal processing, space science, and nanotechnology. In 2010, it was ranked first in the world in materials science research by Times Higher Education (THE). Another unique thing about Rice is its college system. It is similar to the Greek system but without the fees, the college system allows a random assortment of students, of all areas of study, to live together in their "college" or dorm for their entire undergraduate career.

When people first move to a new area, they will think about whether the area is safe or not. Rice University reported 70 safety-related incidents involving students on or near campus or other Rice affiliated properties in 2018. Of the 4,210 colleges and universities that reported crime and safety data, 3,276 of them reported fewer incidents than this.
